Powerful things happen during a REBEL Think Tank®.

On October 15, 2009, the REBELs held an internal meeting around the question: What’s Possible for REBEL to give back to our community? As we collaborated on ideas and ways to engage people, we identified something that engaged us: TED.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Each of us had watched (and been fascinated by) dozens of TED Talks. The power of TED is truly connected to the REBEL philosophy of What’s Possible. As we spoke about how TED influenced us, someone mentioned that TED had started to license independently produced events called TEDx. It clicked. Perfectly. We chose, at that moment, to extend the TED brand to our community by producing TEDxOmaha.

One year and one day later, we watched as fifteen speakers and performers gave their most inspiring presentations and shared their passions with a sold-out audience. Each performance, presentation, and recorded TED Talk sparked discussion. From the opening dissection of our creative culture to the final impassioned personal story, every person in the lecture hall connected with something.

We were overwhelmed with the gratitude expressed by our community. We feel proud to have given a gift to Omaha, especially since REBEL has felt the support of so many people since 1999.

REBEL INTERACTIVE recently produced the second TEDxOmaha conference, which was held Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the Hixson-Leid Auditorium in the Harper Center at Creighton University.
